On January 21, 2013, Cavanagh Law Group obtained a $700,000 settlement for the patron of a restaurant injured when she slipped on ice when exiting the front door of the restaurant. The incident occurred in January, 2007 and the case was set for trial in the Circuit Court of Cook County on January 24, 2013.
CLG attorneys obtained testimony from the restaurant owner that he was aware of a problem with water accumulating at the entrance. He testified that he called his landlord 50 times warning him that there was a problem and it needed to be fixed. However, the landlord ignored the warning calls and neither the restaurant nor the landlord warned its customers or salted the entrance. The patron suffered a significant leg fracture requiring several surgeries.
