On February 21, 2013, Cavanagh Law Group filed a Wrongful Death lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Cook County for the family of Rhonda Smith. On January 1, 2013.
Rhonda was driving home from work, traveling westbound on East 100th Street in Chicago, when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction suddenly crossed the center line and collided head-on with her car. Ms. Smith sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to Advocate Christ Hospital. She survived for 27 days but sadly passed away on January 28, 2013 while being treated at The Renaissance at Midway, Inc. nursing home.
Immediately after filing the lawsuit, CLG attorneys petitioned the court for a preservation order on all evidence. Judge Eileen Brewer heard the Motion on February 22, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. and granted Plaintiff's Emergency Motion. Judge Brewer ordered that the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office and The Renaissance at Midway, Inc. preserve all physical evidence in its present form. The case is entitled Danielle Morris, Special Administrator of the Estate of Rhonda Smith, deceased v. Timothy Schnur, Court No.: 13 L 1878.
