A Sugar Grove resident who was injured along with her children in a June 2014 car accident has filed an Illinois personal injury lawsuit against the city of Geneva, Illinois, as well as the estate of the deceased man who was driving the 2001 Ford Taurus involved in the accident, which was owned by the city. According to a local news source, it is not currently known if the man was working when the accident occurred, although the plaintiff has likely named the City as a defendant with hopes they can be held legally responsible for her and her children’s injuries.
How Did the Crash Occur?
The lawsuit alleges that on June 12, 2014, the city employee was speeding on the exit ramp from Interstate 88 to Route 47 in Sugar Grove and then ran a stop sign and failed to yield, resulting in his vehicle crashing into the woman’s 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. She had two children in the car at the time.
The city employee was killed in the collision, and the three occupants of the SUV were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. The woman’s lawsuit seeks damages from Geneva as well as the employee’s estate to compensate her for severe and permanent personal injuries, medical expenses, and an inability to attend to her ordinary affairs and duties.
